Kara and James are fantastic, I am so lucky to have a business where I end a shoot with a couple taking me home to their parents house for a huge home cooked meal filled with laughter, stories, and good (and bad) jokes. I had such a blast with them and their dog Alta. Groton is quite the beautiful town and the combination of the amazing weather and their love made for a great engagement session. I can not wait to photograph their wedding so I can share it and talk more about their seriously amazing (AND LENGTHY) story!

Boston food truck culture has really exploded in the past year but if you ask me the rockstar of our city is truly my good friends at Roxy’s Grilled Cheese. James + crew took a simple concept and made it amazing. Locally sourced ingredients put into unique sandwiches. They were able to show off their goods this past year when they were featured on the Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race. Really, you can’t go wrong with Roxy’s, unless you don’t eat cheese, but then you can still enjoy their delicious lemonades and truffle fries.

Last week I went down to their kitchen to shoot what James referred to as “Cheese porn”. Well, he’s not wrong. So enjoy a break from the love of people, and here is my other love, food. Tell me about your favorite grilled cheese in the comments!

Did a few family shoots before wedding season hits full swing. Love the different dynamics of familial love. Had a blast at this one. Always nice to be back in South Florida. It’s very clear this is a very special family.

To me, engagement photos are a crucial part of the wedding photography process. I am often asked why I feel so strongly about engagement session photos, so I felt a blog entry would be a great way to sum it all up.

I’ve been lucky enough that all of my couples are beautiful, lively, and so much fun. Something many people don’t realize is on the big day, my team and I will be constantly pointing our cameras at your every move. For most people, this can be overwhelming, so this is where the engagement session comes into play. By doing an engagement session, you are able learn to relax in front of a lens, to practice getting comfortable together for my camera, and most importantly you are able to interact with me which allows me to convey your unique personalities into unforgettable photographs. This portraiture approach is not quite what many couples are used to, but I feel that I can use it to draw genuine emotions which will undoubtedly translate into beautiful photos.

Whether you’ve heard it from my past couples or see for yourself on my website, it’s clear my process is personal, creative, and interactive. To me, wedding photography is more than finding a cool location, putting some good looking people in the frame, and taking a proper exposure. While this is well intentioned, I believe in creating deeper imagery that truly speaks volumes about the couple. I accomplish this with my engagement session photos by getting to know the couple, forming a relationship with them, and never seeing them simply as clients.

After an engagement session with me, you will be fully prepared, confident, and ready to be photographed like a star on your wedding day. You have enough things to think about on your big day and feeling uncomfortable in front of a camera shouldn’t be one of them. After an engagement session with me,your wedding day portraits will feel like second nature and we will be able to get the amazing shots I know all my couples are capable of!

Jeanette and Andrew e-mailed me pretty soon after they booked their wedding to say, “We’d love to shoot in the North End when there is snow on the ground.” Well for those of us in the Northeast you will know that snow days here were few and far between and snow accumulation lasted for maybe, oh 36 hours…  

So we settled for a later date and all 3 of us failed to realize that day was the beginning of St Patty’s day weekend. So avoiding the green-clothed masses and braving the mist and rain, we had a blast running around talking about love, good food, and puppies. They are a great couple and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding this Winter.

I have done a bit of travelling over the past 3 weeks for a corporate gig that isn’t very exciting to talk about, but what is exciting is that because of it I’ve seen many parts of the country that I might not have seen otherwise. San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Durham, Nashville, Orlando, Gainesville, and Tampa. I saw them all, and their airports. A LOT OF AIRPORTS. But the camera I had in my hands the most during the whole trip was my iPhone.

So I ended up doing a ton of Instagramming while I was away so I figured I’d bring some of those images to my blog for those of you who do not have Instagram (and if you do follow me! ZACXWOLF)  or follow me on Twitter or have me as a friend on Facebook. So here is a quick hodge podge of some of my favorite shots from my travels over the past 3 weeks.

I really feel that the Instagram community has proven that no matter what the camera, as long as its put into the right hands, a great image can be made. There are so many amazing and inspirational photographers on there, it is by far my favorite social networking site.
